NOV 3, 2017 CHICAGO GUN VIOLENCE DOWN FOR 8th STRAIGHT MONTH

(CHICAGO) -- The Chicago police department’s monthly crime summary released Wednesday features a headline that may change the gun violence narrative that’s focused so much attention on this city.

For the eighth month in a row, gun violence has declined. October saw a 30-percent drop in murders compared to the same month last year and a 34 percent reduction in shootings, according to the report. For the year so far, there have been 57 fewer murders than in 2016, a decline of almost 10 percent. The drop in shootings is even more dramatic: 545 less than in 2016, a reduction of over 18 percent.

Police attribute the progress mainly to enhanced technology and more focused intelligence gathering on the gangs that have generated most of the gun violence. Anthony Riccio, chief of the Chicago police Organized Crime Bureau, tells ABC News that “strategic support centers” set up in some of the city’s most violent districts have played a major role.

These centers combine computerized information about people in those areas likely to commit crimes -- data such as police records and incident reports -- with intelligence gathered by officers on the street. The result is what the CPD calls “predictive policing” that tells the cops where and when to deploy officers, preventing gun violence before it occurs.

“It’s been pretty accurate,” said Riccio. “All this information and analysis tells us where we believe we’re going to see violence. It’s much more laser-focused than we’ve had in the past.”

The police have also cited an increased number of gunshot detectors called ShotSpotters set up around the city’s most violent neighborhoods. These audio sensors detect and locate the source of gunshots quickly, immediately transmitting the information to police allowing them to respond before 911 calls come in about the shots.

But the progress must still be measured against a year in which the city’s homicide numbers spiked significantly and drew national attention. In 2016, Chicago recorded 762 murders, an increase of nearly 60 percent from the year before.

Earl is doing better but has to stay in an inpatient rehabilitation facility for 10 days.  Four broken ribs is an extremely painful and debilitating situation.  Earl requires assistance until the pain is tolerable.

September 14, 2017 EARL IS IN THE HOSPITAL

Earl Kurburski, owner of GunShows-USA, is in the hospital with 4 broken ribs stemming from a fall Tuesday night.  I visited him this morning and he is doing as well as can be expected.  He was in fair spirits and his pain levels were fairly high.  I will update on his progress often ...Please keep him in your prayers.

As shown on the news, there are now three active hurricanes near our nation.  Irma is destined to hit our Floridian shores, Jose is forecasted to move back out to sea, Katia is at Mexico moving West and should not hit our nation.

In our Western lands there are multitudes of wildfires, please contact your area promoters for show cancellations, we will update them on the proper state pages and this page when the promoters send us the information.  As of this date we have not received any cancellations due to Wildfires.

5/10/2016 Congratulations!

Raschelle graduated May 16th, 2016. She has earned her Associates of Applied Science Degree in Information Systems Technology - Graphic Design with a 3.59 GPA! She was place on the Vice Chancellor's list twice in a row and is an honor student in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She has had numerous works on display at the ASUMH Vada Sheid Art Gallery, her poster design was chosen to represent the Design Show and placed Best in Show. Also, she has other works that have been chosen to represent the college, one of which placed Second in the Illustrator division of the Design Show. And finally, she has been awarded with an Academic Achiever Award for Graphic Design from ASUMH.

8/6 2012 Google Drops AdSense on Gunshows-USA.com

If you haven't noticed all Google ads disappeared from the site about a month ago.  Google decided we where to weapons related for their taste and dropped the ads from the site.  This in effect cut the revenue for the site in half!   We have been busy finding other advertising networks and are building the sites ad base back up.  We will continue with the service, but maybe not as fast and robust, by adding employees and doing advertising ourselves for a while until we're back to where we where.

This site was created in February 2001. 15 full years of online information on locations and dates for gun shows  throughout the United States and Canada!  Here's looking toward another successful year at being the #1 gun show Web site on the internet.

5/7 2012 MAJOR Maintenance work being done.  Converting  all pages to include headers instead of hard coded heads being used.  Viewers may experience some problems loading some pages during the day.  Should be complete by 5:00 pm central standard time!

4/23/2012 We have just added credit card service so promoters can use there cards for payments for additional advertising.  We had fought it for years because of the cost but decided to offer it as an extra service to the folks that have been paying the bills for the site for several years.
